Hello to anyone still following... I know its been a long time... so I will try to do my best to get you caught up with my crazy fast pace of a life.
November... {where we left off}
Pretty much the same ol' same ol' spending as much time with family and friends before I left for training. I was still working in the ROTC office as a Gold Bar Recruiter (GBR). GBR life slowed down a lot, majority of the college fairs were over, so it was just a few high school presentations sporadically through out the month. Definitely nice being able to make my own schedule... you know like when I had to work and when I didnt. hehe. Thanksgiving was good, it was at Alexander and Jin and her girls came down along with Josanna and her little family.
December...
Definitely the slowest month as a GBR, no college fairs and no presentations. However, after graduation we did go to half day schedule and like every 3 days. I was able to go spend some quality time with jin and her girls. Christmas was good, once again at Jins. Josanna and her family came up christmas morning to be with all of us, but go figure Josiah and his family were not in attendence. {big shock there}
January...
New years was good, jahna and I started it out with friends bar hoping but 20 minutes before the new year we both decided that it was Alexander where we wanted to bring in the new year. So we said good bye and raced out to the house. The family and friends out there were definitely shocked to see us but happy because we brought the party with us... we are crazy fun girls when we wanna be... lol. At work when back to full schedule around the 8th, and campus was pretty dead. One of the December grads joined me as a GBR, but thought he had been commissioned longer than I had. It was definitley annoying having him here but I only had to deal with him for a month... ugh... Any tasked we were assigned to work on together, he might as well have just done himself because everything I wanted to do he ignored and wouldnt let me help... annoying! I actually started to pack and the more I did the more I realized I was leaving, actually going to get outta Stephenville and live life on my own. The friendship life... I started hanging out with different people more on the weekends especially. Still did the normal on tuesday nights but it seemed like I was staying out later than I had during the fall...
February {26 days before I left}
I spent a lot of time with friends during this month, I avoided packing for a while and then it was all the sudden like oh crap, I leave in a week and nothing is packed {kinda unpacked most of what I had already packed}. denial, I know! I guess I was getting nervous/scared about leaving because during this month I was having horrible dreams, about my family. Definitely freaked me out even more than I already was. As for work, had a few presentation and a couple fairs... so it there was a little more to do than the past few months. I recieved my first Army Achievement Medal. I was pretty excited about that, I received it at the last home basketball game before I left. And the family was there, so it was pretty neat that they were able to be there. We also went to lunch one last time as cadre the last week I was there. So, the 26th finally arrived and made sure everything was packed up and I began my journey to the east coast. Of course, I stopped in Dallas to say goodbye to Josanna, little Gus Gus and Jubie and Jed. Finally around 2 I got outta there and was on I20 towards Mississippi, where I would spend the first night. Got up early the next morning and started to drive again, taking a few shopping breaks here and there to get out and walk a bit. I stayed in North Carolina that night. Finally Sunday afternoon I made it to Fort Lee, got signed in and headed for my hotel to get ready for that evening meeting/introduction to the course.
March... and the fun begins.. April, May {just going to combine since they all run together}
BOLC B, phase II, started on the 1st and it didnt take long to realize that the course was going to be a death by powerpoint. During phase II, we did land nav, BRM, learned about convoy operations, took a short OPORD class... kinda usless! along with other tactical thing...The PT test went well I got a 276 on the record one... could be betther though. :( Finally we got into the actually quartermaster stuff. sling load was the first class and probably the most exciting. Other classes that we took we over unit maintenance, more convoy ops, nutrition, TAC log (training management), SARSS1, property book, mortuary affairs, arial delivery, petrolum and water department (PWD)... there are many more, but it would take forever to list them all. Our field expereicence was called Log Warrior and in my opinion it was a waste of time, I understand that the PLs got something outta it but as the S2 I really didnt get anything outta it... I sat in the TOC all day for 4 days outta those 4 days, I spent 1 day giving sporadic briefs that lasted all of 2 minutes.... After the field is when we started with the SARSS and property book stuff. It was boring but better than the field. Nights and weekends are what make BOLC! I had a great time going out with my classmates. I only went out with them a few time in Richmond, but no matter where we were we were always having a blast. My class liked to have BBQ so that is what we did majority of time on the weekends!! I met a lof of great people while I was there, including Ashley who is now my roommate, Hernandez (took the role of the close guy friend that I always went to when I need a guy to talk to) Chris.... oh where to begin... he was probably one of my favorite people to hang out with when I was in BOLC, so its no suprise that we are dating now :) He is one of the sweetest guys that I have ever met! The only thing that sucks is that he is 3 hours away, still at Fort Lee.... but I guess that I have to be thankful that I am still able to see him on the weekend because he could be a lit farther away.
June 17, thats when BOLC ended and the life of an LT was soon to begin... I went home for few weeks to see the family and do home town recruiting. I reported to Fort Bragg, June 9th.... a week early... I was assigned to the 135th FSC as the Distrubution Platoon Leader. The first few weeks I was still doing the inprocessing thing and then we had the division change of command so I have really only been with my Platoon for a few weeks, but I think they are a good group of people, they just need more of a reason to come to work everyday... This past week I had to do the Sensitive Items Inventory, which was going great until I could find radio and spent 2 days looking for it. Well it is complete now, thank goodness! :) But next week we start a pre change of command inventory that is when I am going to be signning for all of my Platoons equipment. So it should be a pretty interesting new few weeks. Plus, I am the OIC for the Fall Festivial in November... ugh gotta get on that one....
Well I know this has been brief overview of everything that has been going on in my life the last few months, but it would seriously take forever to cover everything that went on... I will do my best to keep up with the posting, but the life of an LT can be very busy!
