When did swim Team change???

I remember being on swim team as a kid and looking forward to each practice and meet. I swam for 8 years with taff and then one year in high school before they ended the program. that was a very said day for me. I love swimming and the water.

Well the past few years and my busy life have made it where i was unable to be on the team...

But now I am here for the first part helping my mom coach but once again i'm not on the team because of my schedule and being sent to washington for Army training. I would be unable to participate at the regional meet, so i decided just to help. Last night was the first time that I ran the practice with out her. And it made me realize how lazy and disrespectful kids these days are.

I wanted to start off stretching, well thats when the fun began, I had several completely ignore what i wanted them to do. I remember not wanting to stretch but knowing that i needed too, so I did not get a cramp during the work out.

THE WORK OUT!!!!
well that is my main issue, the work outs seem much easier now. I mean the work out I gave them was freakin easy compared to the work outs that I was doing at their age, and we complained but we would always do them so we would get better for the meet. The older kids have to be told what they should be doing at all times to make sure it gets done. What happened to the days when it was written on a chalk board and each swimmer was expected to follow it to the T. Why are kids these days thinking that they can just screw around during SWIM PRACTICE...its called SWIM PRACTICE for a reason!!!!!

I dont understand why kids think they can just stop when ever they want and for how long they want. i'm sorry that is not how things work. you swim what you are told with out stoping, i mean you cant just stop in the middle of a race at a meet, now can you?

AMEN!

I don't understand those kids! How had is it to just obey? Maybe we should start a Classical Education version of swim team!
